A History of Victory

Below is a year by year account of what happened in the past years after the re-establishment of the Student Council.

Sambisig vs Sandigan. Of the first political parties established, Sandigan with its standard bearer Nani Braganza won. This party, composed of members of the LSDA, was progressive, vowing to protect students rights at all costs. A barricade against tuition fee increase was held resulting in the formation of the Multi-Sectoral Committee on Budget (MSCB).
Panudla vs. Lakas Lasallista. Black propaganda against Panudla labelled the party as communist. Lakas Lasallista won. This prompted Panudla to disband and later establish Alyansang Tapat sa La Sallista on August 16, 1985.
Tapat vs. Santugon. The red scare is over, and Tapat triumphs. Tapat captures the SC Presidency through Barry Ubarra. Against threats of estafa suits, Barry collects tuition payments in protest of an unjustified increase in tuition fees.
Tapat vs. Tinig. This year would be known as Tapat's GOLDEN AGE. 100%-1 of all candidates fielded by Tapat in the SC General Elections won led by SC President Ricky Aguas.
A faction of Tapat which breaks away due to inner conflicts weakens the party. A political part named Linkod La Salle was formed. Tapat lost majority of the seats in the SC including the presidency.
Tapat does not field candidates this year, to strengthen its internal operations.
After a successful rebuilding, Tapat's revenge was sweet. It once again dominated the elections, with Omar Mercado winning as president and capturing all the EB positions, 3 of the College Presidents seats and a majority of the batch level candidates.
Tapat again fielded Omar Mercado for the SC Presidency, who later won, earning for himselg the title of the only two-time President of the SC.
Tapat captured majority of the seats in the SC but lost the Presidency to Alfie Suarez.
Tapat captured majority of the seats in the SC led by President Araceli Habaradas and 4 out of 5 other EB positions. It was this year that the draft for the Student Charter was finished.
All of Tapat's candidates for the Executive Board won with Ampy Rio leading as SC President. It was this year that the draft for the Student Charter was finished.
Vince Dizon won as SC President and under his leadership, the Students' Charter was ratified. It was also this year that the Inter Fraternity Assembly was established.
Tapat manages to gain 3 out of the 6 EB positions and 4 out of the 6 College Aseembly Presidents.
Tapat sweeps the EB for the fifth time with the battle cry "Ibalik ang Dapat!" With SC President Nikki Briones, the SC's internal mechanisms are strengthened and groundwork is laid for the fulfillment of the SC Vision.
Under Tapat leadership, the SC, led by John Roe Guray, was able to focus on a lot of relevant issues. Through the SC, DLSU was the only school in the Philippines who was able to pass a stand to the Senate regarding the Visiting Forces Agreement as well as other national issues.
This General Election was a tough one for Tapat but it managed to pull through winning the top 5 out of the 6 EB positions with Rowena Sy as SC President. The campaign focused on the values of unity & collective effort, experience & expertise, focused leadership, political maturity and social responsibilty
